The Amarillo Public Library’s downtown location offers a wide range of genealogy resources to help you explore your family history. Knowledgeable staff and volunteers are available to assist you on your research journey.
Available Technology & Online Resources
Six public-access computers are available for genealogy research, featuring free access to the following subscription websites:

Microfilm & Scanning Equipment
- Microfilm Reader/Printers
Three microfilm reader/printers are available. You can view archived materials and download images directly to a USB flash drive.
- KIC Scanner
The library’s high-resolution KIC Scanner allows you to:
- Scan two face-up, full-color pages (up to 17” x 24”) in a single touch
- Save or print electronic images in multiple formats (PDF, JPEG, PNG, TIFF)
- Review and organize scans before saving
- Transfer images directly to your tablet or smartphone
- Output to cloud services like Google Drive with pre-programmed hotkeys
- Generate audio (MP3) files from scanned text
Print Resources
In addition to digital tools, the genealogy section includes:
- Periodicals
- Historical and regional maps
- A wide selection of local and family history publications
